Jerking awake she gasps for breath
Eyes wide and heart racing
All her senses running on overdrive

Wrapped up in a thick blanket of fog
She struggles free making it to her knees

A small light glitters in the distance
With squinted eyes and furrowed brow
She searches through the darkness

The light emerges, and with it a man
Average in most respects
But to her he's the world

She tries to stand, to catch his eye
Thick metal chains keep her their captive

She tries to speak, to catch his ear
Not a note or sigh can escape her lips

The man and his light continue through the darkness
Searching, not finding his heart's desires
Wandering aimlessly hoping to find her
